There are some films that grip you from the first frame because of either the imagery, sound, or a combination of the two. This is one of those films.
'In The Name of the Father' ranks as one of our favorite films from the 90's with incredible performances by Daniel Day-Lewis, Pete Postlethwaite and Emma Thompson - all of which were nominated for Academy Awards.
The actual orchestral score for the film was composed by Trevor Jones, and also features an incredible track called 'You Made Me The Thief of Your Heart' by Sinéad O'Connor. It's a stellar standalone soundtrack. However, we felt it imperative to showcase one of the most striking tracks from the film that grips you right at the beginning. It sets the emotional framework of what is to come, and is oddly haunting and gorgeous at the same time.
This film does not hold back in thrusting you directly into its story with a shocking beginning. The music, which is perfectly timed with what you see on-screen gives your reaction and the cinematic experience incredible gravitas. As always, if you haven't seen this film, do so immediately. It is based on the true story of the Guildford Four - four people who were falsely convicted of the 1974 Guildford pub bombings, which killed four off-duty British shoulders and a civilian.
