"The Life of Walter Mitty" is all about the "quintessence of life”, and taking the courageous leap to become the person you've always wanted to be. With a fun score by Theodore Shapiro, the soundtrack also features Junip a.k.a José González performing a variety of songs throughout that are heartwarming, and speak volumes to the character and variety of unique moments throughout the film.
This scene in particular is a beautifully shot (and short) sequence featuring Junip's track "Far Away" as Mitty rushes to chase the famous photographer, Sean O'Connell. In his decision to take a long board down a windy road, we begin to finally see the beginning of Mitty's transformation into a free soul. There are very few sound effects in the scene itself, which is always a wonderful creative decision to let the sound & image collectively create an emotional beat, or moment. While short, you feel this character moment uniquely because of the sound & image relationship. Enjoy this one.
