Drama, Fantasy, Horror, 31-Aug-2022
Alex Garland is one of our favorite directors for a variety of reasons - creative storytelling, visuals, direction, but also how he integrates music in each of his films. In this 2022 folk horror film, we were excited to listen and experience Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow's atmospheric score, which at times was mixed with contemporary neo-classical music. This cue in particular is interesting where the cue morphs into beautiful polyphony composed by Arvo Pärt (which is not heard on the soundtrack).
There is no question that this film is intense, and raises many questions about meaning and its overall theme. We should be conscious that Garland's perspective is something to behold.
