Ep. 215 - John Williams' 'The Accidental Tourist'
John Williams
•
Drama, Romance, 15-Mar-2023
There is something about this film that is quite unique, mainly because of the incredible performance by Geena Davis and William Hurt. Based off of the 1985 book by Anne Tyler, the story revolves around a middle-aged travel writer whose life and marriage have been shattered by the tragic death of his son.
The John Williams' score was nominated for an Academy Award that year, in addition to three others including Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Picture with Geena Davis being the only one to take home the trophy. Even so, we think this is one of Williams' must subtle and interesting compositions that shouldn't go un-noticed. If you ever have the chance to see the film, do so.
