It is without question that 'Garden State' put writer/director Zach Braff on the map as an emerging indie director. It also was one of the best selling soundtracks of the year, selling 1.3 million copies and certified platinum by the RIAA. Braff was actually awarded a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album and said, "Essentially, I made a mix CD with all of the music that I felt was scoring my life at the time I was writing the screenplay."
There is no question that the music fits perfectly in the film, featuring a variety of talented artists like Coldplay, The Shins, Zero 7, Cary Brothers, Frou Frou, and more. Frou Frou, aka Imogen Heap, had only recovered a cover for 'Shrek 2', and really gained massive popularity after Braff decided to have 'Let Go' as the key track for this film.
It's a wonderful little film with some great actors. Our suggestion is to watch it and listen to the soundtrack - it is a great compilation of songs that we all really love.
