Portman's Academy Award-winning score to 'Emma' is one of our absolute favorites. Portman used various instruments throughout to give a unique voice to each character. She revealed that a 'quivering violin' represented Harriet's uneasy stomach, while 'a bittersweet clarinet' would accompany Emma through her emotional journey in the story.
On the 24th of March, 1997, Rachel Portman became the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Enjoy this 'Main Title' sequence from the film.
