Drama, War, Music, 30-May-2022
As we celebrate Memorial Day, we felt it necessary to showcase John Williams' masterful work to the Spielberg epic 'Saving Private Ryan'. Considered to be one of the greatest American films ever made, it has been preserved in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as 'culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant'.
There are very few words that can explain this score, other than its simplicity. Perhaps that is what makes it so beautiful to listen to. The French Horn solos combined with lush strings remind us all that with tragedy, there is hope. Channeling Copeland, John Williams score to this film, in our minds, is one of his most memorable. If anything, listen to the entire album from start to finish and let us know what you think.
