Ep. 67 - Michael Giacchino's 'Star Trek Into Darkness'

Action, Adventure, Music, Sci-Fi, 26-May-2021
This Score Cue Snapshot features three cues composed by Michael Giacchino, in his fourth collaboration with J.J. Abrams, which included 'Star Trek' (2009). This score actually includes the original 'Star Trek' theme by Alexander Courage. Our favorite release is the 2014 expanded soundtrack album, which had a limited run of 6,000 copies. The cues themselves have been perfectly timed and edited to fit within the actual film.
Interestingly, this is the highest-grossing entry in the Star Trek franchise, and it was nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 86th Academy Awards. Enjoy it!

This score isn't as well known as some of the...

"Some things in here don't react well to bullets."
The 1990 John McTiernan film is one of our top favorite movies ever, with an incredible score composed by Basil Poledouris. The film was actually honored at the Academy Awards for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Film Editing.

Ep. 64 - Thomas Newman's 'Scent of a ...
As always, Thomas Newman is incredible at being able to musically define a moment, or character emotion. If anything, this 'Main Title' is a perfect example of defining the sterility of an elite prep school, with an outlier student looking for work over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Who can forget Pa...
