What more can be said for one of the best films and scores of all time? Winning two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, and two Grammy Awards, nothing can compare to Richard and Robert Sherman's work with Julie Andrews at the helm. This was, in fact, her first on-screen appearance that also won her an Oscar for Best Actress. The film overall was nominated for 13 Academy Awards and won five, and is also considered to be one of the best films ever made by Walt Disney during his lifetime.
Children and adults alike have spent countless hours watching and re-watching this film because of its incredible emotional impact on each of us - the music, the performances, and everything in-between. If anything these achievements in cinema have taught us, is that with the right combination of sound & image, one can have a profound experience that stays with us forever.
