Ep. 113 - Howard Shore's 'Big'
Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Music, 01-Nov-2021
Penny Marshall's 1988 film 'Big' is nothing short of perfect. It's one of those films that you can see over and over again. Winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor, Tom Hanks performance is one of his best, and Howard Shore's touching and really heartwarming score is unforgettable.
This scene is near the end of the film when Josh Baskin (Hanks) ends up saying goodbye to his co-worker Susan (Elizabeth Perkins). Upon leaving the car, you hear his transformation through music before you even see it allowing one to use 100% of their imagination. Given the nature of the relationship between Josh and Susan, you really do feel a sense of care and genuine friendship between them as they say goodbye. The scene wouldn't be what it is without Shore's incredible work here. If you haven't seen this film, see it right now!
