Ep. 117 - The Hunter (Bruce Springsteen)
Adventure, Drama, Thriller, Music, 15-Nov-2021
'The Hunter' is one of those hidden gems that most haven't heard of. Directed by Daniel Nettheim starring Willem Dafoe, Sam Neill, and Frances O.Connor, the story focuses on a mercenary (Dafoe) who is hired to track down a thylacine, a supposedly extinct animal whose genetic code holds the secret to a dangerous weapon.
This scene in particular is one of our favorites, featuring the great track 'I'm On Fire' by Bruce Springsteen. The backstory of this scene is a bit complex, but Frances O'Connor's character mistakingly thinks her lost husband is back home. As it turns out, it's just Dafoe who was hired to find the thylacine. The complexity of the scene is driven by the music - her husband's favorite tune. The subtle acting with the music really creates a unique cinematic moment. If you haven't seen the film, we highly recommend it.
