Ep. 127 - Joe Hisaishi's 'Princess Mononoke'
Animation, Action, Adventure, Music, 24-Jan-2022
Nothing compares animated films by Hayao Miyazaki, especially this one. Composed and performed by Joe Hisaishi, the soundtrack composer for nearly all of Miyazaki's productions, the music was performed by Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Hiroshi Kumagai. Throughout, the film, the music by Hisaishi is its own character that flows with the emotional journey of Ashitaka and his partnership with San. In this opening credit sequence, you can instantly get a sense of scope and wonder as we begin to understand the mystical (yet simple) world this is set in.
There is no question that we feel this is one of those must-watch films. If you haven't seen it, do so as soon as you can.
