There is a reason why this film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". From the first frame you are engrossed in music - something writer/director John Hughes was well known for.

Regardless, this film transcends history - why? Because the theme of the film is the constant struggle of the teenager to be understood by adults and by themselves. You will hear that in this scene. We've all been there, and Hughes was the master at being brutally honest about that journey. His use of music also captured the culture of the time (80s). As a result, all of his soundtracks continue to be some of the best soundtracks ever produced. Enjoy this one.
