Ep. 155 - Elmer Bernstein's 'The Magnificent Seven'
Action, Adventure, Western, 02-May-2022
We don't think anyone can forget the iconic Bernstein theme from John Surges' 1960 American Western film, 'The Magnificent Seven'. Some say that it is one of the most iconic themes ever composed for the genre. Based off of Akira Kurosawa's 'Seven Samurai', 'The Magnificent Seven' is considered to be one of the greatest films ever made. Bernstein's score was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score, and is listed on the AFI list of the top 25 American film scores.
In 2013, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being 'culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant'.
