Ep. 195 - The Big Chill (feat. The Temptations)
Comedy, Drama, 05-Dec-2022
Lawrence Kasdan has written and/or directed some of the best films ever made (The Bodyguard, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars Ep 5-7, Silverado, etc.), and 'The Big Chill' ranks up as one of the best comedy-drama films to-date. The film itself also features one of the best movie soundtrack compilations ever, with soul, R&B, and even pop-rock from the 60s and 70s playing a pretty large role in the film. This included tracks by Creedence, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Rolling Stones, and Three Dog Night. Bill Conti actually composed the score, but for this snapshot, we felt it was necessary to feature two tracks from The Temptations - two of which are some of the best songs ever recorded. The film of course does an excellent job integrating the music into the scenes being shot in the film. As we have family and friends over for the holidays, this is a scene we can all relate to in some way.
If you haven't seen 'The Big Chill', it is an absolute must-see. The dialogue, acting, and comedy is a reminder that some of the best films were a product of the 80s. Time to revisit all of them!
