Joseph Kosinski's 2013 film is one of our favorites, and M83 & Joseph Trapanese created a score that is in part orchestral and epic, but also has an undercurrent of that great M83 fluid electronica sound. There is nothing quite like the iconic Universal Pictures logo, and the score here is perfect. Combine the music with Kosinski's incredible visual aesthetic and Cruise's subtle acting, its marriage is quite extraordinary. Enjoy the opening of this film in 4K HDR with two consecutive cues from the album.
To guide Anthony Gonzalez of M83 through the scoring process, director Kosinski brought in Joseph Trapanese, who co-wrote the score alongside Gonzalez. Kosinski states, "Together they have created the score that I have dreamed about since I first put this story down on paper eight years ago." Trapanese first came to Kosinski's attention when he collaborated with Daft Punk on 'Tron: Legacy' as arranger and orchestrator.
