There is no question that 'American Psycho' is controversial for a variety of reasons, however the music is what we are most interested in. While the regular soundtrack features a variety of hits from artists like David Bowie, The Cure, and New Order, and Huey Lewis and the News, John Cale's subtle approach to the complexity of the main character is absolute genius. It is the simplicity of the piano contrasted with these hits that brings such poignant perspective as we watch, in real time, a character completely devolve into madness.
John Cale is a Welsh musician, composer, singer, songwriter and record producer who was the founding member of the Velvet Underground. You can read more about him here: http://john-cale.com
