Ep. 65 - Basil Poledouris' 'The Hunt for Red October'
Action, Adventure, Music, Thriller, 19-May-2021
"Some things in here don't react well to bullets."
The 1990 John McTiernan film is one of our top favorite movies ever, with an incredible score composed by Basil Poledouris. The film was actually honored at the Academy Awards for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Film Editing.
Interestingly, the score itself was originally compiled to fit the Cassette tape, so the original release was missing a bunch of score cues. Luckily, it has been remastered by Intrada Records, which features 40 extra minutes of the score, including the until-then-unreleased end titles. Enjoy this spectacular opening to one of the best films ever made! And if you haven't seen the film, do so immediately.
