Ep. 86 - Leslie Bricusse & Anthony Newley's Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
Fantasy, Kids and Family, Music, Musical, 02-Aug-2021
"Pure Imagination", sung by the great Gene Wilder (who played the character of Willy Wonka), was composed by Leslie Bricusse & Anthony Newley, who both were also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Score for the film.
It is without question that this film stands on its own as one of the best films ever made, based on Roald Dahl's book 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. Gene Wilder, who was also nominated for an Oscar for his acting in the film, gives one of his best performances representing the distant and sometimes disconnected character of Wonka contrasted with the rich colors and practical world that literally is his imagination. Combining the performance from Wilder with the score and songs is exquisite and will never be forgotten.
